outdoor tea party

Throwing a birthday party for little girls can be difficult. They will want to have a birthday party better than the birthday party that their friend had. A party theme that your little girl will always remember and which her friends will enjoy is an outdoor tea party. You will have to be creative and have the girls dress appropriately for the party, in order to participate in the activities you have planned out for them. Make sure that your party menu also offers a variety of finger food and platters.

Your Outdoor Setting

Since you will be having an outdoor tea party, you will need to make sure that your outdoor setting is thoroughly decorated. If you are not comfortable about having the party under direct sunlight, you can opt to hold the party in portable carports or metal canopies. You can have the structure positioned in the middle of the yard or garden, or right beside the house facing the garden. Decorate the structure, tables and chairs with lace, light drapes and various floral arrangements. If you have crawling plants, you can have the plants crawling up the poles. The ceiling can be decorated with streamers or balloons. Just be sure to have your d?cor match the tea set and other decorations. Since you will be entertaining little girls, you can always consider the colors: pink, purple, white, yellow and red.

Invitations and Dress Code

You can make handmade invitations to give the guests an idea on what to expect at the party. You can make handmade paper decorated with bits of herbs, dried leaves or flowers. Do not forget to indicate the dress code for the outdoor tea party so that parents can dress their little girls in light dresses or sundresses. You can ask them to wear fancy gloves and sun hats, or simply provide them with gloves and hats upon their arrival. You can buy old hats at thrift shops and decorate them with flowers, feathers and ribbons. Toy jewelry and purses are also great accessories and souvenirs that you can add to the party.

Get the Adults to Join in

Since you will be throwing an outdoor tea party, you can also consider having the little girls bring their grandmother, grandfather or their parent. While the children are enjoying their fancy tea, the adults can mingle and enjoy the garden tea too. Your responsibility to watch over the girls will be reduced, because their guardians will also be present. This will also be perfect for activities you will be having. The birthday girl can be a ?princess?, her grandmother can be a ?queen?, while the little girls can be ?ladies? and their guardians ?duchess?, ?dukes?, etc. The game of pretend will keep the little girls enthralled for hours.

The Tea

Aside from the fancy accessories and decor, the tea will also be the main highlight of the party. Instead of serving hot tea, serve the little girls different blends of iced tea. Pastries, cakes and crumpets are essential at tea parties, but you can also add an array of finger foods that everyone can enjoy. You can also have a small platter of fresh fruits, chopped vegetables and cheese placed on each table. Chicken and tuna sandwiches are also delicious for tea parties and adults will surely enjoy fresh garden salads as well.
