The iPhone Accounted For 73% Of AT&T?s Smartphone Activation Last Quarter

att-logo-smallThe iPhone is dominating. And that's not unsubstantiated flamebait. AT&T just released it's quarterly financial statement, which reveals the wireless carrier sold 5.1m smarpthones in the last three months. Out of those 5.Mm sales, the iPhone accounted for 3.7M units sold, resulting in a dominating 73% market share. AT&T also notes that 22% of its iPhone sales were new activations. Unfortunately for fanboy, Verizon's financial statement did not break down its smartphone sales across mobile platforms last week. It's impossible to tell if Verizon saw similar iPhone sales although big red is pushing 4G Android devices a lot harder than AT&T with its faux 4G.
