Student charged with threats against Kent State

CLEVELAND (AP) ? Police have arrested and charged a 19-year-old Kent State University student who posted a message on Twitter saying he planned to "shoot up" the campus.

A university spokesman said Sunday night the tweet was posted July 25.

Koberna is to be arraigned in court on Monday. He also faces hearings that can result in his suspension or dismissal from the university.

Kent State University President Lester A. Lefton said in a statement, "Our students, employees, and all those who come to campus should know that their safety is our top priority. Any threat to our campus community is taken seriously and immediately investigated."

The Benefits of Hiring an N1 Pest Control Expert - IdeaMarketers.com

Summary: Pest control chemical sprays available on the market are only effective on small pest infestations. If huge infestation happens, the best way to solve the problem is to hire an N1 pest control company. Pest control Islington experts can help you solve serious pest infestation problems, including those caused by wasps, mice and rats.

Body: For a simple pest infestation, it's probably wise to do pest control and removal all by yourself. But when pests have multiplied and the infestation has grown serious, hiring a pest control company is certainly the smartest thing to do. In Islington, there are several N1 pest control companies specializing in pest eradication, from rodents to insects, to fleas and bed bugs.

One of the biggest benefits of hiring N1 pest control experts is the fact that these individuals have long years of experience and knowledge in the industry, plus the fact that they employ the most up-to-date methods and tools. State-of-the-art equipment and techniques ensure that pests are completely eradicated and will never invade your home again.

Often, chemical sprays that are sold in the market may be effective only on small infestations and may not last long. Experts, on the other hand, are equipped with high-end pesticides that are not available in the market, and that can eradicate huge infestations. Moreover, only these experts may have the knowledge and skills to properly and safely use these dangerous products. Pesticides are considered harmful to human health, and having an N1 pest control professional handle pest infestation for you can sure save you trouble.

Aside from chemical sprays, service providers may also use mechanical methods, such as the use of traps and baits, as well as dust applicators, fumigators, fogging equipment and other state-of-the-art equipment you probably may not have seen or heard of, and that only these companies have access to.

Another advantage of hiring experts is the fact that these individuals are equipped with the ability to detect pests not just those that you have seen and sited, but also those that you may not be aware are still lurking behind your walls and ceilings. Experts also provide you advice so you can prevent future infestations. N1 pest control companies also ensure they employ the best approach to eradicating pests. They do home evaluations to identify the type of pests, their locations and how serious the infestation is. Through the process, experts will be able to come up with not just the best way to approach the problem, but also one that you are convenient with.

Pest infestation is one of the most challenging problems that homeowners often encounter at their premises. And while a do-it-yourself pest control and removal can save you bucks, hiring an expert remains the key to completely eradicating these unwanted organisms and preventing them from coming back. It is not something to hesitate about because of the expensive fees, but rather something that is worth spending your money on. After all, you are sure to reap huge benefits after the service, including keeping your family safe all the time.

If you are in Islington or around its vicinity, there are a lot of pest control companies to choose from. You just need to ensure you are dealing with a good and reliable Islington pest control company -- that is, a company that is recognized by the authorities, and one that has years of experience and knowledge in the industry.

Fly Or Die: Google Nexus 7

Ever since I/O and the unveiling of Android 4.1 Jelly Bean, the blogosphere has been measuring Google?s new Nexus 7 tablet. The verdict in almost every case is good, including our very own iPad lover?s take.

John and I thus found it only fitting to bring the little 7-inch tablet into the studio for Fly or Die. The tablet, with a 7-inch IPS 1280?800 display, a Tegra 3 quad-core processor, and the latest version of Android, didn?t fail to impress.

And the specs have very little to do with it. Sure, that Tegra 3 proc probably contributes quite a bit to the snappiness of the tablet, but the display isn?t anything to write home about, nor is the measly 8GB of on board storage. (I know there?s a 16Gb model, but without external memory you?ll be walking around with a rather ?light? amount of content.)

What makes the tablet great is that it?s the first truly premium tablet available in this size and price range. Amazon?s Kindle Fire is great but it isn?t really a computer replacement the way the iPad is, but rather a mobile Amazon content portal. And the iPad, though exceptional in performance and usability, is a little large and way too expensive to fit into the category.

The Nexus 7 fills that gap, and so we believe it?ll fly and fly into many a home. It?s already sold out once.

The real question is whether or not it?ll still have such high demand once Apple unveils that long-awaited iPad mini. September will be here before you know it.

Syria SNC asks allies for heavy arms

DUBAI (Reuters) - The Syrian opposition appealed on Sunday for its foreign allies to provide with heavy weapons to fight President Bashar al-Assad's "killing machine" and said it would soon start talks on forming a transitional government to replace him.

"The rebels are fighting with primitive weapons. We want weapons that we can stop tanks and planes with. This is what we want," Abdelbasset Sida, head of the Syrian National Council (SNC) opposition alliance, told a news conference.

Sida was speaking as rebels and government forces backed by tanks and helicopters fought in the streets of Aleppo, Syria's main commercial city.

Weapons supplies "will make Syrians able to defend themselves against this killing machine", Sida said.

He also said the opposition would hold talks within weeks to form a transitional government. Such a government would run the country between the eventual fall of Assad and democratic elections.

Most of its members would be drawn from the opposition but some members of the current Assad government might also be included, Sida added.

"This government should come about before the fall (of Assad) so that it presents itself as an alternative for the next stage," Sida told Abu Dhabi-based Sky News Arabia television.

"There are some elements in the current regime who are not bloodstained, who were not part of major corruption cases. We will discuss (including them) with other parties, but there should be a national consensus to accept them."

However, criticism about the SNC's legitimacy may complicate its efforts to form a transitional government. It backs the Free Syrian Army rebel force, despite having not always overtly supported it in the past.

But it has sometimes struggled to overcome internal divisions and critics have accused the Istanbul-based organization of being out of touch, overly influenced by Turkey, and not fully representative of the opposition.

INITIAL INVOLVEMENT OF TLAS RULED OUT

Visiting Abu Dhabi to meet United Arab Emirates officials, Sida did not say when exactly a transitional government might be formed, telling the news conference that he had discussed the idea with Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahayan, the UAE's foreign minister.

Last week, Brigadier General Manaf Tlas, one of the highest-ranking defectors to flee Syria, said he would try to help unite Syria's fragmented opposition inside and outside the country in order to agree a roadmap for a power transfer.

Sida said he welcomed Tlas' defection but the general could not be involved in the early stages of organizing a transitional government.

"The dialogue and coordination have to first be with the Free Syrian Army and the various members of the Syrian opposition movements, and after that if there are some roles to be played by members who have defected, then so be it - but with the condition that there is an agreement between the Syrians about that."

Sida also ruled out the possibility of Tlas becoming head of a transitional government.

"This has to be a person who can lead a national government and who has been committed to the revolution since the beginning," he said.

Cheney calls Palin's selection as 2008 US VP candidate "a mistake"

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Former Vice President Dick Cheney said in remarks aired on Sunday that 2008 Republican presidential candidate John McCain's selection of Sarah Palin as his vice presidential running mate was "a mistake" because of her inexperience.

Cheney said in an interview with ABC News that the main criterion for anyone being considered as a potential future vice president "has to be: Is this person capable of being the president of the United States."

Cheney, a prominent conservative who remains an influential figure in Republican circles, said he personally likes Palin, who was a first-term governor of Alaska when Arizona Senator McCain picked her as his running mate four years ago.

"I like Governor Palin. I've met her. I know her. She was an attractive candidate," Cheney said.

"But based on her background - she had only been governor for what, two years? I don't think she passed that test ... of being ready to take over. And I think that was a - a mistake," Cheney added.

McCain and Palin lost to the Democratic ticket of Barack Obama and running mate Joe Biden.

Cheney cited his experience in leading the search for running mates for two Republican presidential candidates - incumbent President Gerald Ford in 1976 and George W. Bush in 2000. The latter ended with Cheney himself being chosen as Bush's running mate, and he served as vice president from 2001 to 2009.

Before being elected vice president, Cheney had served as U.S. defense secretary, a White House official, a congressman and a business executive.

Cheney, 71, underwent heart transplant surgery in March in Virginia. Cheney, who has suffered five heart attacks, had been on the cardiac transplant list for more than 20 months before he received the heart from an anonymous donor.

On July 12, Cheney hosted a fundraising event to add to Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney's brimming campaign coffers.

Palin, the first woman ever to be chosen as the Republican vice presidential candidate, was an unconventional selection in that she was a novice on the U.S. national political scene with relatively little experience in public office.

Palin's selection initially energized McCain's campaign, but she committed a series of gaffes and there was tension between her camp and McCain's advisers behind the scenes.

Palin announced last October she would not seek the Republican U.S. presidential nomination in 2012. Palin cited family considerations as playing a major factor in her decision. She has felt the U.S. news media has gone too far in covering her family, such as the drama involving her daughter Bristol's tempestuous relationship with the father of her child, Levi Johnston.

She made clear she would turn her attention toward recreating a role she carved out for herself in the 2010 congressional elections, helping elect conservatives in tune with the conservative Tea Party movement to Congress, state governorships and the White House.

Palin and McCain endorsed rival candidates in the Indiana Republican Senate primary this year.

Beat-Up Chinese Paper Stocks May Be Poised To Rise

Beat-up shares in Chinese paper producers may be poised to rise in the second half of 2012, ?Northeastern Securities of Jilin said in a research report on Saturday.

Shares of leading suppliers such as Nine Dragons Paper, Lee & Man Paper, and Sun Paper? have tumbled in the past year on excess industry supplies and weak international demand, ?cutting into the fortunes of some of the region?s richest businesspeople.? (See related story here about Lee & Man).

Among the biggest losers, Shenzhen-traded Shandong Sun Paper sank to a three-year closing low of 5.03 yuan on Thursday, before edging up 0.01 yuan on Friday.? Sun?s chairman Li Hongxin ranked No. 157 on the 2011 Forbes China Rich List with wealth of $955 million yet today he?s worth only a little more than half that. (Click here for a link to the 2011 Forbes China Rich List.)

However, ?shares may be poised to rise, Northeastern Securities said. First-half?profit at another big industry supplier,? Shandong Chenming Paper, for instance, won?t be below 72 million yuan, or US$11 million, according to a projection by the company on July 12. Because actual first-quarter profit was 15 million yuan, that implies net income in the second quarter shouldn?t be any lower than 57 million yuan, almost quadruple the preceding three-month period. The company officially projected second-quarter net income would be in a range of 72-150 million yuan.

To be sure, that?s a big fall of 70-85% compared with a year ago.? But ?the light of dawn? may be on the horizon, Northeastern said.
